Meta’s latest update for the web version of Threads includes direct messaging and easier navigation between multiple feeds.

Connor Hayes, the head of Threads, posted that this new look is currently in testing to make the desktop experience just as powerful as the mobile app.

Let’s take a quick look at the updates:

  1. The new layout includes new shortcuts to the left-hand sidebar on the site, including saved posts, insights, and activity, vit,y as well as the ability to move between different feeds.
  2. These features have been present in the web version but were difficult to find.
  3. The addition of the Threads inbox, which was added to the mobile app last June, was not available for web users.
  4. This will enable web users to receive and respond to DMs.

This new layout is a helpful shift for the 150 million monthly users who want to reply to messages and navigate different feeds using the web version.

Before upgrading, everything was hidden in deep menus, making it difficult to locate saved posts or account information. Now the metrics and notifications will be displayed directly in front of you on Threads’ web version.

Recently, disappearing ghost posts were revealed on the Threads App. These can be viewed on the web version but can be created only on the app.

For creators, the addition of direct messaging on Threads Web would enable faster, more efficient community management and brand communication without relying solely on the mobile app.

It is yet unclear when these updates will be rolled out, as they are currently under testing, but Hayes mentioned in his post that “you’ll start to see them appear over the coming weeks.”
